Stand-out designs you'll want to flaunt in this season of revenge revelry.

ECKHAUS LATTA

The outside world is a party.
At least that’s what it feels like entering this penultimate period in the pandemic: a rediscovery of the great wide open. For bi-coastal label Eckhaus Latta, based between New York and LA, every sip of fresh air and second we take back from those dark days of isolation is worth celebrating.

With a garden in the middle of Manhattan as its runway, the label’s SS23 collection declared that nature is a disco. Shiny metallic tops mingled with tassel-lined dresses, which recalled the confetti from a piñata, free-falling flirtatiously mid-air. Floral embroidery and a fizzing effect on fabric toasted our need to reconnect—or get frisky, if a male model’s butt-baring, one-legged trouser is any proof.

Since the duo launched their label in 2011, Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta have always imbued their collections with a feeling of festivity. Inclusive casting in their shows and campaigns meant everyone was invited to the party; a celebration of people you rarely get to see in the spotlight. Renowned for their unconventional fabrics and handwork—honed at Marc by Marc Jacobs (Eckhaus was an accessories designer) and Opening Ceremony (Latta designed knitwear)—every piece dyed or deconstructed echoes the individuality they champion.

In this era of revenge revelry, Eckhaus Latta’s pieces are perfect for standing out, reaching out for a hug, and wilding out to a club beat. Amid our renewed urge to be around people, however, there’s also the need to keep our belongings safely (and, yes, strikingly) on our person.

Enter Published By, a German-made accessories line offering a flashy way to party-hop with all your valuables in place. An emphasis on flashy, by the way. Designer Christopher Tsetinis uses 3D modeling to craft chain-link shoulder bags, clutches, and jewelry that look like alien motherships glinting in deep space.
At least if you do get sick of human beings, you’ve got one chic way to communicate with any foreign life out there.
